Welcome to the home base of The Melbourne Social Choir.

We meet every second Tuesday, 7-9pm at Ela Rose Studio, Fairfield, then hit the pub at the end of each term.

We sing good songs from all eras, plus some choral music, sea shanties and musical theatre.

Fees are $50 per term (not for profit). The vibe is casual, fun and social.

  • No. Just sign up using the form, learn the parts in your own time, and rock up to the next available session.

  • Yes, you can come to one session for free to try it out.

  • The choir is best suited to people who have sung in some capacity before - whether that be at school, in a band, in another choir, in the shower, etc. You don’t need to be formally trained or be an amazing singer, but the 5-part harmonies could be challenging for a complete beginner. If in doubt, the best thing to do is sign up and have a go at the parts we send you in your own time.

  • No. The parts are provided in both sheet music and as audio files. You can learn purely by listening to the audio files, while following along with the sheet music for lyrics/structure.

  • The main intention of the choir is to get together, sing great music, eat snacks, chat, develop our skills and have fun. There are no big events, recitals or tours.

    That said, we performed recently at an old folks home and will continue to do the occasional show here and there.

  • Melbourne Social Choir was established in 2024 by composer Terry Mann.
